At a time when our normal world seems to have shifted, it can be tough to focus on our own personal needs. It feels selfish and a bit trite. People are getting sick and even worse, thousands are unemployed and unable to feed their families. And then there are those working hard on the front lines to make sure we have the availability of items we need. Focusing on ourselves seems trivial, yet that is the farthest thing from the truth.
We cannot reach out and help others when our cup is empty. We cannot take care of our families, neighbors and all the responsibilities of daily life if we are not running at our best. And surely we cannot bring peace to our world if we ourselves cannot find peace. It’s like the airlines always tell us, put your mask on first before helping others. It may sound counter intuitive and yet it is the only way to ensure you are able to do what you need to do.
So maybe it is time to get selfish, maybe a little. It may be time to take a bath, or a long walk, or even read a book for no other reason than to read that book. It is time to realize that the speed with which we lived life before has changed so we need to change our habits and mindset to be the leader, provider, a support staff for those in within our reach. It is time to remember that we need to be at our best in order to serve those who need our best and that takes focus a time, and self attention. Take the time to find your own peace in order to share that peace with others.
Another wonderful creation. You amaze me.
