Daddy and baby Malachi are meeting our puppies Biscuit and Gravy for the first time. I think in this photo the puppy is trying to lick Malachi’s foot. This little boy is so curious as he has never seen a dog before, and yet at the same time not sure he REALLY wants that puppy too much closer. Eventually the puppy was able to lick his face and he didn’t like that at all.
Somehow over the course of life we all learn what we want and what we don’t want. It takes trial and error and new experiences to discover who we are and what will make us feel strong and confident. All of us were helpless six month olds once in our lives and we were dependent upon others to guide and protect us from the giant world outside our door.
What have you recently learned about yourself that surprised you or reminded you of what you like and what you do not like? How did this discovery help you better understand yourself and others? Maybe today is the day you discover what puppy licks feel like and afterwards are able to decide for yourself if you want more? I hope you have someone who has your back and someone who encourages you to have new experiences and broadens your horizons.
