This time of year we tend to focus on gifts, the ones we give and the ones we receive. We spend time and energy making or finding the perfect thing to give the people we care about. It has become an obsession for this time of year.
What about the gifts we already possess? The ones we have that no one can take away? The talents we own and make us unique. Things like kindness, enthusiasm, analytical thinking, athletic ability, brain power, or maybe even a passion for animals. These are the things that make us so special. They define who we are and what we have to give to the world. They help us do things more easily than other things, and they allow us to grow and learn how to do things other people struggle to understand or execute.
Today instead of returning the wrong gift or buying something we may or may not need with yet another gift card, what if we reminded people of their gifts? What if we told them what we admire about them and how their talents and traits have blessed our lives. Words have the power to change lives and encourage greatness. All we have to do is use them for good to acknowledge the talents in those in our life.
Do you know what your talents are? Send time figuring that out and helping others do the same. These are the gifts that keep on giving for a lifetime.
