It has been raining here for over a week. The ground feels saturated and even our cats are beginning to look a little moldy. You can tell when you interact with people that they too are tired of the rain. When I found these words from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow they fit perfectly.
Maybe today is the day you just let it rain, no matter how much you want to make it stop, you do not have that power. So give in, let everything else go and enjoy the rain. Let it sprinkle on your head, clean the soles of your shoes, water your lawn and garden, or even just let that rain prevent you from getting too overly ambitious.
Raining days are great days for naps, reading, thinking, being quiet or even cleaning the top of your refrigerator. And we need that gift, silence, quiet, peace and very few expectations to get much done. Rest is a good thing. Relaxing is a great thing. Rain allowing us to do both of those things is a fabulous thing. So let today be your rain day.
Do a whole lot of nothing and absorb the quiet peacefulness of water pitter pattering on your window pane. Just let it rain. Tomorrow the sun may return along with your energy and hope, so today just enjoy a down day.
