Inktober Day:19 What Will You Do?

Ink on paper – Lyrics: Katrina and the Waves

This is one of those songs that makes people tap their toes, snap their fingers and want to sing along. It is a 1980s classic, one expressing happiness and joy. The lyrics bring energy and life to everyone.

Wouldn’t it be great if people reacted to us with such joy and excitement every time we entered a room? How exciting it would be for us to know that just our presence makes people feel better about things. That they looked forward to hearing our words, like listening to our ideas and are glad to work with us on things that are before us.

We actually do have the ability to make people feel that way about being around us. We can choose to exercise that power everyday when we choose our words, our actions and our attitude. By lifting people up, encouraging and giving them space to learn and grow, we have the power to make their lives better…which in turn makes our lives better.

So how will you choose to treat people today? How do you want to make them feel? Will you yield your power for good, joy and excitement? Or will you be the center of it all only focusing on what you need to get done? People will forget what you say, and eventually forget what you do, yet they will never forget how you made them feel.
