Inktober Day 4: No One EVER Gets Tired of It

Ink on Paper – Lyrics: Alicia Keys

I first heard this song by Alicia Keys during a workout bike ride. The Instructor used it during a cool down. She stopped talking and encouraged us to listen…good job, good job, you’re doing a good job. The lyrics go on about the people in our lives that cheer us on no matter what. The Mothers, the Fathers the Teachers, the world needs you now, don’t get too down. These people in our lives blessed us, marked our papers with words of encouragement in red pen, to remind us that we are on the right track!

I don’t know anyone who ever gets tried of being reminded, told, encouraged by hearing or reading the words…good job! That’s why we put our graded papers on the refrigerator for everyone to see. It’s why we have metals, parades, pep rallies, awards shows, contests and even warm hugs from the people who know and love us the most. Good job!

Here is the thing to also remember, these cheerleaders, guides, gurus and wonderful people also need to be told they are doing a good job. They need to know that they have made a difference in our lives. Without them we just might have given up, doubted ourselves, or stopped moving forward. They too need to know that their efforts, energy and praise was not in vain. They need to know that they are important, vital, and worth words in red pen at the top of their paper. They need to be told good job!

Take time to tell someone good job…and sincerely mean it. These two words can change the world, and the more we use them the better. Go on, do a good job! Today may just be the day that the tides turn simply because someone heard these words and believed them.
