So many opportunities out there to bring our ideas to life. Getting things started is not as hard as it used to be. Dive right in, get things going, and then the reality of the size and scope of it all can feel a bit daunting. The details can drag you down into the muck and suddenly you feel like your feet are treading through thick, gunky, mud. When I read this quote it was an encouragement as I think we all feel this way when getting started. It feels exciting, then overwhelming, and then impossible!
Impossible! Impossible? That is a big word, a powerful word that has the power to stop us in our tracks, especially when it comes out of the mouth of people who we thought were supporting us or rattles around in our heads when we are struggling. It is just a word after all. Like any word it can bring us to our knees or it can challenge us to get up and get moving. The choice is really ours in how we want to proceed once this word filters into our brain. Nothing is impossible. Nothing! It may be hard, it may be out of our skill set, it may be challenging or expensive, it may be REALLY big or quite minute, yet nothing is impossible. It is only impossible if we let it be.
Everything started from nothing. The internet didn’t exist when I was growing up, neither did cell phones or podcasts, downloads or fast food delivery services. We couldn’t order things online nor could we meet people and connect with them via an app. Yet here we are doing all those things because someone who was told “That’s impossible” kept going and figured out a way to make it happen. They may not have done all the work, so they engaged the right people, shared their idea, and let them go do what they do best.
Things are only impossible if we let them be. Which means we have to choose how we want to proceed, how hard we are willing to work , and how open are we to asking for help. Nothing is impossible unless we choose to make it so…so get up, get out there and go do that thing that you think is impossible. Prove that word wrong, do your noble work and make your world a better place.
Well said. And sometimes being told something can’t be done makes us more determined to prove the others wrong.
