When we are in a state of stress we go back to what is familiar. When we are emotionally charged we go back to something that comforts us. When we are unsure or anxious we seek out something to help relieve the pressure. It would be great if the things we went back to were always helpful and productive yet we all know that isn’t always the case.
No matter what is going on in our world, we all want to know that we are loved and cherished. We want to be the focus of someone’s attention. For that to happen we all need to realize that love forces us to practice everyday the understanding that “something other than ourselves is real.” Great words to remind us that in order to love we have to get out of our own head and focus on the other person.
In these strange pandemic times we need to be reminded of our blessings, our gifts, and that there will always be someone out there who is having a worse day. We all need to feel love especially in times of stress, so get out there and hug the people you love. Show them some attention and let them know that no matter what happens they are important enough to put yourself aside.
