The ‘Try Before You Buy’ Plan

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. What do you think this amazing woman has running through her mind at this moment? I happen to know because she is my sister-in-law. She is in Portugal absorbing the moment, savoring all that is in her world right now. She has done some very courageous things recently and is taking a moment to be still and savor.

Laura is a school teacher who has taken a year to teach English in Spain. She would like to do it on a regular basis when she retires, so she took a year to ‘test the waters’ so to say and is having a great time. How wise to take a test run to see if what you think you want to do you really want to do before you actually dive in full throttle and do it. She has a real heart for Spain and so far she is enjoying her adventures.

It is one thing to have dreams and ideas, it is another thing entirely to turn them into actions and life decisions. How brilliant to try before you buy! One of the fears we all face is making a life changing decision then realizing we hate it, and then what??? The try before you buy plan allows you to work out the kinks, really see how things will be on the adventure, and it allows you to settle your own thoughts about the thing you want to do. Laura is leading the way on that front and doing a marvelous job of it.

So what would you do if you could try before you buy? Where would you live? What new thing would you learn? Who would you hang around? And what thing that you have dreamed about doing would you do if you could? The only real thing stopping you from trying is you, so make plans to savor where you are and take time to dip your toe into the water before you jump into the deep end. If this photo tells us anything it confirms that risk taking pays off.
