The Race has Begun

Okay, Christmas is behind us and this year is quickly coming to a close. As a result we often begin to think about what we want to do differently next year. Thoughts about how we want to change, rearrange, repurpose or move forward in a new direction. Where do we want to drive our future, and where is the road an unknown element?

We all know we cannot control everything, or maybe that statement serves as a reminder to many readers. So let me say it again, we cannot control everything. We can control our actions and our attitude, nothing else. We can decide how we are going to react and what we are going to focus on; other than that, everything else is out of our control. Once we allow that concept to absorb into our soul a great deal of the turmoil and strife we manufacture can simply go away.

So what do you want to change in the new year? What do you want to stay the same? What do you hope will happen, and what do you want to happen so badly that you will do whatever it takes to make it work? Where are you willing to drive yourself towards your idea of success, and where are you willing to simply be the passenger? Sometimes the most impactful times in life are the unplanned moments when we are simply passengers enjoying the ride. Wisdom is put into place when we know the difference between when we can drive and when we should simply be a passenger.

Nothing dictates that you can only make changes at the end or beginning of the year. Why not start by making a change today? Just one thing you want to do differently to drive your life where you want it to go. Maybe instead of multiple cups of coffee you start today with only one. Maybe instead of buying coffee you make it at home. If one of your goals is financial health, either of those ideas could help you get started. It can be as simple as that.

What one thing can you do differently today to head your life in the right direction?
