The day after Thanksgiving we went go karting and played arcade games. It was a fun way to get out of the house without being near any shopping areas. Here you see four of our merry band playing air hockey and having a blast. The cool part is that some of these young people had not seen each other in many years, so being together doing anything fun was a bonus.
It is great to see the next generation getting along, having fun, learning how to play together without letting the inevitable urge to compete ruin things. We ate, we played, we laughed, we mocked and we even went to the movies. It was a fun afternoon, one we won’t forget for a long time.
It is a true blessing when family become friends. When you find that life has dealt you similar hands and everyone is dealing with the same choices along their journey. Not everyone is choosing the same path, and yet family can respect the path each one is traveling. I am proud of my nieces and nephews as only an Aunt can be, and yet I continually urge them to be the best version of themselves. Time is showing them some tough lessons and they are getting a bit beat up. The good news is they are learning how to be themselves and what they truly want out of life.
So this game was one of their last chances to compete before dispersing to the four corners of the country. I’m glad they could relate, have fun, blow off some steam and remember that family will always have your back, even while they are trying to score on you in air hockey.
