Leave Well Enough Alone

The flowers have started showing their glory and summer is in full bloom. Each one that blooms reminds me that anything is possible. You put a seed in some dirt, water it and let it enjoy the sunshine and before you know it beauty will ensue. I am not arrogant enough to think that I had much to do with this process; I chalk it all up to Mother Nature and her ability to make amazing things happen. I am happy to sit on the sidelines and watch the show.

We are all capable and intelligent people so it can be hard not to meddle in what someone else is doing just fine. We may think we know better, or that they could be more effective, or that we know a faster, easier, smarter way to do what they are already doing. We stand there and tell them our thoughts and how they can do it better, when they never asked nor care to hear what we think. It’s sort of like putting lipstick on a pig; we waste the lipstick and greatly annoy the pig.

I figure Mother Nature has the whole flowering thing down; I am simply glad to be able to participate even if it is only in watering things when they are dry. Sometimes the best thing we can do is leave well enough alone. Let the pig be a pig and Mother Nature grow the flowers just the way they are meant to grow. That way when it is your turn to do your thing, people will respect you enough to leave you alone.

So I will leave well enough alone and simply enjoy the fruits of the magical growing process. Mother Nature is doing things just fine…
