This is page six of my demonstration book for a class I taught last month. When I was showing it to the group, several people chimed in and read these words out loud! When they were finished, everyone giggled and started talking about where they learned it and how often their family uses it. I was surprised how unilateral these words were amongst such a diverse group.
There is something fun and special that happens when words bond us together. Be it a catch phrase, song lyrics, a poem, a tagline, or a movie quote…people giggle and everyone instantly bonds merely by knowing the same words. Then conversations ensue and stories get told, people laugh and everyone somehow has a common place from which to build a relationship. It bonds generations and brings people closer together. Sort of like when you sit down to a meal and everyone knows the same blessing of gratitude…and chimes in to bless the meal.
Let me encourage you to share your favorite words, phrases and blessings with people you meet. Common words have a way of helping us get to know people in a new and exciting way. They break down barriers and bring life to what may have been an awkward moment. Remember that the words you speak have the power to change your life, bring joy, and build a foundation for a wonderful relationship. Never underestimate the power of your favorite words.
