Whew! These words could not be more true that my recent days. Not that anything horrible happened, time just got away from me and before I knew it Sunday was almost over and I had not worked on a thing. All the “life” stuff clutters in a takes over and before you know it another day is gone.
We can get all upset about not having accomplished what we wanted, what we promised, what we expected and that is when life reminds us that a day above ground is a REALLY good day. Life has a way of reminding us that no matter how much we think or plan or act, we are not in charge. We can schedule and arrange everything we think is right and one by one it crumbles into a completely different layout than the one we intended.
Maybe that is why I like ink splotches and splatters so much. No matter how much I plan they never go exactly where I think they will land, and yet somehow it usually works out. Flicking a brush or pen is my way of letting go of control and allowing life to take over. It is both humbling and exhilarating at the same time. Sort of like life being what happens while we are busy making other plans.
Plan all you want, work hard, do good things and spread kindness…and forgive, forget and breathe deep when life takes all that over and crumples it into a little ball. If we never go with the flow, let go or splatter a bit of ink our world would be very dull indeed. So go splatter a little ink every now and then…
