This week’s calligraphy prompt was to use an unconventional tool and write a neologism. A neologism is a newly coined word or phrase that is used in everyday life but may not have been accepted into formal language. I used walnut ink and acorns to write this one. It was easier to write using the acorns with their ‘cap’ intact.
I don’t spend much time watching or listening to the news anymore. If something really important happens the people around me will talk about it or let me know the details. I am no fan of 24×7 news and I think those media outlets have led to the need for a fake news hashtag to even exist. There is too much hype, too much bias, too much focus on death and destruction, and too much show business to ‘promote’ themselves as news reporters. Somewhere along the path we have lost the factual, unbiased opinion and it has been left up to us to sort through to avoid all the garbage.
I feel for those who want to be journalists and get lumped into the same category as all other reporters. It mush be difficult to find the truth and get it reported correctly. Sort of like trying to write normal letters with an acorn. It can be done but it takes a lot more effort and time, and somehow the end result seems a little off.
Liked. Must get ink from blick.
