Pronounced “Gee O Ta Coo” – it is the Japanese art of fish prints. In this process, you actually use a fish, cover it will inks and paints, then transfer the ink to the paper.
In this example my husband used a fish mold instead of a real fish, block printing ink, rice paper, and embellished the eyes with colored pencils and a white gel pen.
What I find fascinating is that you can see the scales, textures and unique features of the fish…then color it to suit your own creativity.
