I found some paper bits and wanted to use this one. I tore it down to size, then pasted it into the black paper notebook I’m utilizing for Inktober. Sometimes the simple words can be the most powerful:
Love people, Use things…not vice versa.
– Kelly Ann Rothaus
We’ve all experienced this one in vice versa mode. We’ve been used, or used people and loved things. No one likes feeling the way that makes you feel – especially if you are the one being used. It can also be a tough stumbling block to get over when it happens in relationships. Forgiveness may come more slowly than the offending party would choose.
Let us endeavor to check ourselves – our words and our actions – to ensure that we are not the one who put these things in the wrong order. Before we speak, think kindness as if we were the audience for the words we are about the utter. Before we act, think love not what we can get out of our actions. And when we have done either in a backwards manner – used people and loved things – let us change our ways, ask forgiveness and move forward with determination to not let it happen again.
Small things matter, loving people and using things to make the world and lives better, THAT is what will help us to become the people we always wanted to become. So it’s simple – love people, use things..and that’s the right order!
