Inktober Day 14: Echoes are Endless

ink, gel pen and textured wall paper on black paper – Words: Unknown

Recently someone said some very kind things about me, to me, during a conversation. That was over a week ago. Today, I I worked outside and those words rang in my head, over and over and over again. When I read this quote I knew I had to do it for today’s Inktober piece:

Kind words can be short and easy to speak,
but their echoes are truly endless.

– unknown

What we say, the words we choose, and how we speak to people leaves a lasting echo in their minds. You know what I mean. The good, the bad, and the ugly things people say haunt us and encourage us well beyond the time they were spoken. Sometimes it can be decades before we can get the ugly out of our brains or the good to be what comes back to us first. We have all said and heard things that have echoes, even if we did not mean for them to reverberate for years.

Let me encourage you to think before you speak. The things you say can hurt or heal, it’s your choice. So as you go through your day, even when you know you are right, speak kindness and words you want that person to hear over and over and over again. It may be words they hear in their head far longer than you meant for them to last…so choose your words wisely!
