THAT is What We Need to Celebrate Today

I was talking with a young person, someone who was only twenty-four. And yes, that’s young. I remember being that age and dreaming about the life I wanted, the places I wanted to go and the finding someone with which to share it all. I spoke to this ‘young-in’ and listened as they told me about their dreams. It was inspiring and made me appreciate the journey I have lived AND the fact that a lot of the decisions that got me here are all done. Whew! Her hopes reminded me to feel blessed and fortunate that those days are behind me. And I was thankful to have loved and been loved in return all along that path.

Today is Valentine’s Day. I wanted to post something about love – no matter it’s shape or form. It could be loving yourself, loving your life. Loving a pet, a neighbor, your family, or even loving what you do for a living. Maybe you love the way you spend your time. Perhaps you love food. Maybe your love is for the land, property or place where you dwell. Maybe there is a favorite color you LOVE and surround yourself self in everywhere you go. Maybe you love exercise or walking. Maybe you love travel and adventures, going new places and meeting new people. Perhaps your love is in process, behind you or hopefully on its way. Maybe like that twenty-four year old, your life and love is more in front of you than behind. Maybe your heart is missing that special person who has left this earth. Maybe you are most important of all, learning to love yourself…who you are right now, love your circumstances AND sharing that love with the people in your world.

No matter what love looks like in your life, give thanks that you do love. And like this quote reminds us, savor most of all the love you have received. To receive love in all its shapes and sizes, THAT is what we need to celebrate today.
