I am writing this a few days after October 19th, which is when I would normally be posting my ink work during Inktober. Yes, I got behind…and here’s why. We rented a twenty yard dumpster and have spent the last three days filling it with stuff. Lots and lots and lots and LOTS of stuff. We demolished two bathrooms, cleaned out our wood workshop, and cleared out the garage. Needless to say that at the end of each day I had no strength to write a blog post. I had created this work before the dumpster arrived, so I have been completing calligraphy each day of the month…just no energy to write.
As I reread these heart warming words from Laure Ingles Wilder, author of the Little House on the Prairie series, I felt better about my choice to have courage when things go wrong. Some days go as planned, some weeks, some months, even several months in a row. I know very few people who can say that every year of their life has gone as planned. Her words reminded me that life is not about having things go right all the time. Life is about how we handle when things do not go as planned. The REAL things that are important in life have not changed, no matter what generation in which you were born…being Honest and Truthful, having courage and giving thanks for the simple pleasures. THAT is what life is all about..
