I have many, many books with quotes that I comb through to find content for my calligraphy pieces. This one hit me as I was looking at a section about seasons. It reminded me that time marches forward no matter what is going on in my life or in current events. Days turn into weeks, weeks turn into years, years turn into decades and suddenly a life is lived before we know it. I didn’t want to get remorseful, more mindful that time marches on through crime and war…if we are fortunate that is!
It is summer time, which means hot humid days with bugs chirping at night. The trees look a bit tired from blooming all summer, the animals are a bit more reluctant to head outside into the heat, and we are wearing shorts each and every day. People are already talking about Fall, hopeful for leaves changing colors and wearing pants. Hopeful for the change in the season, and mindful that whatever is going on right now…it will change soon enough.
No matter what is on your plate right now – the good, the bad and the ugly parts of being an adult – time will change it all. Patterns will repeat themselves, chores will get done (or not!) and our world will revolve around the Sun. What right now may feel like a monumental task, challenge, or disaster will eventually pass with time. It may take a while, yet time will march on and that “thing” will become a story you tell others when asked how you became so wise. This time of turmoil and strife will be the experience you credit with building your character, learning that important lesson, helping you to become the person or leader you are needed to be for your future.
So…whether it is through crime or war, you ARE becoming a better version of yourself, no matter your current circumstance. We all face the ups and downs of life, the struggles and the battles, the triumphs and the bloodied knees from stumbling. These are the days when we earn the scars, the lessons learned and the wisdom gained, all because we had the courage to get up in the morning and keep going. The undisturbed nature of time WILL lead you to your better self, the next adventure and you will be better prepared and a better person for it. So keep your chin up and keep moving….it will get better.
