Suppose you could? Really!!!
Suppose you could be successful, effective, or even content with whatever you did next. No handicaps, no fear, no self doubt, no minimizing your abilities, no worries about what anyone else thinks or says…
What would you do?
How would you behave differently than you are behaving today?
(Deep sigh…)
When we are honest with ourselves about where we are in life right now compared to where we want to be – in our relationships, our creativity, our personal health and well being, our finances, even our mental state – there is something that is holding us back from believing we could be different. That little piece (whatever it is) gnaws away at our confidence preventing us from moving forward without fear.
Maybe we have been beat up lately and have to give ourselves time to heal. Maybe we have made mistakes and need to put in the work to heal a relationship. Maybe our work ethic needs a brush up. Maybe we need to face the fact that the reality we had in the past will not be the same reality we will have in the future. We need to embrace that we are in a different place and our future is more uncertain than we care to admit. Or MAYBE, we need to be still and quiet to figure out what is preventing us from moving forward in joy.
It’s the old, “What do you want to be when you grow up” question. The one we think we know the answer to when in reality, we realize we need to rethink some things. No matter your age, stage in life, or interests, we all reinvent ourselves multiple times along the path of life. Maybe this is that time, right now, because you had a hard time giving that thing that gnaws away at your joy a true label.
It doesn’t mean you are weak, or less than, or even incapable…it simply means you are human. It means this new future of yours is one you have to embrace. You need to figure out WHAT IT IS you would do if you could not fail. If you put all your fears and insecurities aside, how would your life change. How do you do that…by answering the question we first asked…
Suppose you could?
