Inktober Day 28: You’re Brave Enough

Ink on watercolor paper – Words: Dolly Parton

So what does it mean to be brave? Is it about overcoming danger? Saving lives? Daring to say what everyone in the room is thinking but are too scared to speak? Is it standing up to a bully, mean people, or those who are cruel? Or is it about stepping up and out when all you want to do is run and hide? Maybe it is all those things and more…

For each of us we learn and grow into who we are, which means pushing boundaries and stepping beyond who we are today. And THAT requires bravery. The kind of bravery which makes us dig deep, face our inner fears and act as if we know we were going to succeed. As Dolly Parton reminds us, being brave means being willing to try…no matter what. Which also means being willing to fail…no matter what.

What are you facing in your own life that requires bravery? A job hunt, dating, making a big purchase, changing old habits, building stronger patterns or even doing something new and different. Whatever it is, you are worth the effort. Overcoming our fears, anxiety, and being a better version of our selves IS being brave. It may not feel that way at the time, bravery is not a feeling. Bravery is a choice.

Choose today to do something brave for your own world. We could all use a bit more bravery than the amount we woke up with, and we only get brave by being brave. Guess what…you’re brave enough to do just that!
