I LOVE that Dolly Parton reminds us of both sides of her world – grit and lipstick. BOTH have made her work hard, build her music, her vision for Tennessee and her legacy. Both are things we should never leave how without.
GRIT – that stick to it, work to the finish, determination and toughness that we all need each day. Being willing to work hard, be tough and tackle any problem is a requirement if we want to change and grow our lives beyond where we are today. GRIT means sticking to it, never being swayed or ignored, and it means getting things done. It means taking the good and the bad, the mediocre and the fabulous, the boring and the incredible, doing all that without faltering. Whew! That’s a lot, yet required.
LIPSTICK – this one reminds us that we are who we are. We can be soft, pretty, kind, adorable, even silly and still get it all done. LIPSTICK means be yourself and let your sensitive, fashion, personality side shine bright no matter who is in the room. And LIPSTICK means present yourself as a finished product, a brand, a beautiful person who wants to present their best self to the world. Whether you wear lipstick of not, always be ready to be present and smile…you never know who is in that room.
GRIT & LIPSTICK a winning combination no matter who you are. Be ready to work, be ready to shine. Be proud of who you are and be beautiful…no matter how you look.
