If you’re always trying to be normal you will never know how amazing you are!
So what’s up with trying to be normal? I know we want to belong and fit in, yet being “normal” is a relative term. It depends who you are with as to how they define normal, which means each day and each interaction may have a different definition of “normal”. That will drive anyone crazy trying to be just like everyone else, especially since everyone else is trying to be just like us.
Maya Angelou reminds us that what makes us different, unique and special allows us to be AMAZING! Being unusual, not normal and in no way duplicatable IS a great goal! And to do that we must acknowledge that which makes us stand out from the crowd. Our hair, our eyes, our voice, our talents, the way we think, the stories we tell, the experiences we have had. Put all those pieces together and no two people are going to alike…let alone “normal”.
Let me encourage you to give up the idea of being normal. Embrace the things that make you YOU and celebrate the uniqueness in others. When we do that we are then able to see the amazing-ness in ourselves and others. So go forth and be amazing…in your own unique way. And do it one purpose!
