Betty walked the red carpet at the 63rd PrimeTime Emmy Awards and was asked who she was wearing. Today’s quote was her response! I love that in an industry that is never satisfied with reruns, Betty White shared with honesty and humor that her outfit was from “the back of my closet”. Bravo! I love her honesty and nonchalant attitude towards an expectation. Way to be yourself AND be funny about it!
Heaven forbid we keep clothes and wear them over and over again! That sounds like a cardinal sin in the fashion world…and yet, it’s brilliant! Betty reminds us that being ourselves is not just about what we do, it is about how we present ourselves each and every day. Having the courage to live our lives the way we want and not caring what other people think – THAT is true success. Going out without makeup, wearing something twice to weddings, or even donning that treasured ugly sweater simply because you love it each and every time you wear it.
In a world that is trying to make us look and act like everyone else, hooray for those who dare to be themselves in all situations. Who put their own choices – about their fashion, their finances, their feelings – out there no matter what. They give us the courage to do the same.
