Betty White first appeared on television in the 1940s…yes, that is eighty years ago. Talk about someone who endured the test of time and was still standing! I love this quote from her about women and their ability to be both beautiful, transformative and tough in any storm. Betty commented once that as a woman she had to stick it out, play the game and just keep being a great comedian. As time passed her abilities grew and became so evident that she could no longer be ignored. She changed and grew with the times…great advice for us all.
As I wrote this piece I was reminded that a caterpillar had to transform in order to be able to fly through a hurricane. It had to change from a caterpillar into that butterfly. CHANGE…such a tough thing for all of us. Yet if we do not change we are destined to fail and become irrelevant. Everyday we have a choice to be ourselves AND be a better version of ourself as the world, and life, changes around us. To survive even the caterpillar had to change into something better than it was the day before.
Take time today to think about the ways you want to change for the better. How you want to release your inner butterfly and conquer that upcoming hurricane…you may not know when, or how, or even why, but a storm is coming! Better to be prepared and do the hard work of changing now rather than be blown apart or left behind.
