Today I sent out the third issue of my magazine – Paper, Pen and Surface. I can’t believe it has been nine months since we started publishing it…whew! Lots of lessons learned, lots of improvements, and lots of challenges to overcome. The fact that I am more excited about it than before it got printed, THAT is fantastic! Are there things I need to do differently moving forward, you bet!
Coco Chanel reminds us in these words that success is often achieved by those who didn’t know that failure was inevitable. In other words, people who are just dumb, naive and gullible enough to keep working even when failure is right around the next corner. They keep their heads down and keep working, trudging along long enough to pass failure without even recognizing that it was right by their side. I felt that way today on my way to the post office. I stood and hugged the big box of magazines as if I were sending off Christmas presents. It was heavy, so I’m glad the line moved quickly. When I got to the counter, the postal Clerk said, “Whew, is all that going out today? That’s a lot!!” Music to my ears.
What would happen to your recent project, activity or adventure if you forget about failure? How would you approach your latest challenge is you didn’t believe you could be beaten? How would you feel when you finally poked your head up and realized you had surpassed the goal more than you thought possible? It is amazing what can happen when we forget about things that can distract us, make us fearful or even cause us to stumble. We work and work and work and before we know it we are successful. Let me encourage you today to forget about the WHAT IFs and focus on simply moving forward.
