Alphabet…

This week’s prompt for the private calligraphy group was an alphabet. Either practice one, create a new one, or be inspired. While eating breakfast my husband and I talked about alphabet soup that we ate as kids. It was always warm and comforting and no one could resist trying to spell words while pretending not to play with your food. So I created this to turn letters into noodles and fondly remember the cold days with hot soup. Participants in the group enjoyed it, and they too were reminded of playing with the letters while trying to stay warm.

Soup is one of those comfort foods that every culture shares. Not everyone puts the same thing into their soup, yet the savory broth, surprising morsels, and soothing warmth as it flows down your throat all work to tell you that everything will be okay.

Maybe today is a day when you need to hear that everything will be okay. Maybe you need a bowl of soup to comfort your stomach and your soul. Maybe you need to make soup for someone else and give them a tangible reminder that it will all work out in the end. If you’re making soup put in extra noddles and letters, there never seemed to be enough vowels to spell all the words I could imagine.
