This week’s calligraphy prompt was a movie quote. Recreate a movie quote or something inspired by motion pictures. I LOVE the movies and many phrases came to mind. I finally landed on this one. I used a sumi brush, alphabet stamps, gold star stickers and marker brush pens. I had fun trying to make it look like something typed badly with bland military colors. Other people have already posted their versions and it has been fun to see everyone’s interpretations.
As I wrote I played this scene over and over in my head, and it made me think about all the pressurized situations I have experienced. The ones where you go in expecting one thing and end up in another. You went in confident only to realize that your own words have brought your demise. These are the times when we learn that silence is the best strategy. Saying nothing can be more powerful than spilling your guts.
So when in doubt, let silence be your guide.
