The Rest is Still Unwritten

Too often we forget that tomorrow is unwritten. We have to live with the choices we have made today, yesterday, and years gone by. We have to forgive, regret, celebrate and deal with the consequences of our choices. And we have no idea what is going to happen tomorrow, the rest is still unwritten. Our future is a blank page, a story yet to be told. Our future is still wide open.

It may not feel the way; we sometimes feel trapped by our lives and our secrets. But in reality we can change almost anything and make our future different. When we get up we have the choice of how we are going to react to whatever comes our way. We can wallow in bed or jump triumphantly onto the cold bedroom floor and be thankful that we are awake and alive. We have options and choices to make that can change the course of the day, the week, or even our lives.

And then that little voice in your head reminds you of your obligations, the explaining you would have to do if you did X or Y, or starts listing the names of the people who you would disappoint if you head a different direction. The tapes in our heads, the ‘should’ we feel, the obligations we have to fulfill, the role we have chosen to play…it all comes flooding into our head and prevents us from choosing the road less traveled. But if you are not happy or fulfilled or using your talents then who is really getting disappointed? Who is losing out? Who is going to dread each and every day when that alarm goes off?

It is a brand new day, full of options and possibilities. Today is a blank page waiting to be filled with words and thoughts and ideas, and choices. You have the power to change anything you want. You have the power to continue doing everything you choose. And you have the power to make different choices if you want, all you have to do is head that direction and keep going. Nothing is impossible if you are willing to work hard enough, and choose wisely. Today may be just beginning for you or nearly at an end, just remember that tomorrow is unwritten.
