It’s on the Other Side

The day will come when you hit a wall; either one you come upon or one you have created yourself. It may be big, dark, and ominous. It will seem overwhelming and impenetrable. It isn’t, it’s just a wall. There are tools to destroy it, break it down, put a hole in it, or even make it bigger. The challenge you may have it that you may or may not have access to those tools when you need them.

So what do you do? Do you work to find a way around it? Do you try to go through it? Do you simply stand there in an immobile state wondering what to do next? It may take time and energy, new thoughts and a different way of looking at the wall. All this takes time and energy. So what do you do?

All of us have encountered walls we beat and walls that beat us. We have been crushed underneath the weight of walls we thought were permanent, only to learn that the wall was really made of paper…we simply made it harder than it had to be. We got in our own way and prevented ourselves from progressing. We thought wrong for too long and wasted lots of time and emotion on something that was really rather simple. Once we got out of our own way everything we feared dissolved before our very eyes.

So how long will you stand in front of the wall that stands in your way and wait? What is preventing you from tackling the wall? Are you too proud to ask for help? Are you too lazy to try? Are you too tired to muster the energy to make a change and go for it? Or are you stumped? Maybe all you need is to get over the fear and simply do something, anything to get things moving.

Everything you want is on the other side of fear. So how long will you stand there and do nothing when EVERYTHING you want is on the other side? How long can you live in isolation or stagnation? Just get to it, do something, move forward, kick that wall. Something is better than nothing, and everything you want is worth the effort. So get busy getting to the other side.
