A Lesson From a Cat Nap

Some days you just need a nap. You need to give in to the tired side and let go. Here you see Artie utilizing one of his favorite places in our living room. What I love is that he had no qualms or reservations about just stretching out and enjoying a deep sleep. He slept this way for hours simply enjoying the time away from it all.

When we feel over scheduled and overwhelmed that can be the hardest time to simply get away from it all. It may not mean a vacation or days off the grid, sometimes a few moments or even a couple hours can put everything into perspective. It. means turning off the world and letting it revolve around the sun without you. It means giving in to what your body is telling you and letting go of your sense of control.

One thing I have learned over the years in owning cats, they can check out when they need to, then check back in quickly. They wake pup, stretch, yawn or stretch again, then they are off the chase the next paper wad. They sleep hard, play hard, then sleep some more later in the day. They make it a priority to take care of their personal need for sleep. They know that when they do not get enough sleep they do not function well; so they go away and sleep it off, then get right back to the life of being an active cat.

Maybe all you need is a nap. A few dedicated minutes to allowing your body to check out and rejuvenate. If you let it, twenty minutes could change your day. So take a tip from Artie, check out and take a nap today and see how much better the rest of your day progresses.
