There is something to be said about creature companions roaming around your house. Be it a dog or a cat, a gerbil, a rabbit or maybe your favorite kind of reptile. No matter what beloved animals help you occupy your home, their presence can really make the difference.
The same is true for any space that serves a significant role in our lives. The people who sit around us in the office, or the regular group we exercise next to each time we work out. Maybe it is the service person who brings us coffee each time we travel to the same location. Maybe it is the mail delivery person, the teacher in the front of class, or the online group we belong to and post into on a regular basis. All these space companions have an impact on our world. They provide comfort, support, and sometimes a sense of belonging. In this crowded planet we call home, it is the people and other living creatures that make this planet more than just a sphere to occupy. These space companions turn a house into a home, a world into our world. They help round off the harsh edges, make the unbearable and immense seem comfy and small.
As you walk through your life today, take time to notice the people who share your space. You may or may not know their name, yet their presence makes a difference in your world. Think about how you impact others around you – at work, at home, at school – and make sure you are making their world a better place to live. We are all in this thing together, occupying the same space. The more we work to make everyone’s spaces more warm and friendly, the more our own spaces are better places to live.
