Okay, are you still working on your new year resolutions? Or have you already given up? What about the one that revolves around cleaning out your closet? This time of year always makes me feel the urge to purge. With the new that came in over the holidays there has got to be something old that someone else could use. So I take a quick run through my wardrobe and fulfill my promise to purge.
What about the garbage that fills our heads? The old tapes, the disappointments, the cruel and unkind things people have said, and the rejections experienced in the past. Instead of simply cleaning your closet, why not take some time to clean out your mind? Let the old things that no longer apply be removed and spend time this year replacing them with positive. Fill your mental wardrobe with exciting ideas, thoughts, positive sayings and other images that help you feel better about yourself and your future.
I know, I know the bad things, the hard things, the disappointments and sad experiences are what have made you who you are today. But why do you need to keep them all in your head? Move on. You’ve learned the lessons you needed to learn, so let them go and give your ideas and dreams more space to thrive. Put them ‘away’ and give them no more of your precious brain power. Fulfill your urge to purge by writing them all down, then shred them or burn them. Done! Time to spend your mental space on good and exciting, hope and joy, dreams and ideas…your life is worth it.
