“Work” for the Holidays

The holidays are upon us and that means work. What? Work? It’s a lot of work to get a family and house ready to celebrate. It is fun work,, satisfying work, and the efforts and VERY much worth it. But it is still work. Cleaning, decorating, cooking, more cleaning, more decorating, more cleaning, more of everything. Whew! Who needs a diet plan, simply getting ready for the holidays is a fabulous work out.

It’s fun work. It’s wonderful to be happy and healthy and able to put in effort for those we are going to celebrate with us during this season. It means enjoying the place where you reside. It means putting up the tree and the stockings and the garland. It means thinking of others while you work, knowing that the surprises and things you do today will be appreciated throughout the season. People may not notice your clean floors of sparkling bathroom, yet they will use them with gladness. YOU will know you cleaned them, or had them cleaned.

The time we put in getting ready makes the moments we are actually celebrating that much more special and festive. It might sound silly but I enjoy cleaning my house for the holidays. I know it is a lot of work, but it reminds me of my blessings and prepares me and my heart to give to others. The work makes me glad we are healthy and able to share our world with others. IT is fun o have a place people enjoy and are glad to visit. Never underestimate the power and blessing of a clean bed and bathroom, of a decorated tree and a festive household. It shows people you care.

Time to roll up my sleeves a bit more and work on my festive house…ho, ho, ho!
