At one time or another we have all been running late. We forget something, we planned poorly, we got stuck in traffic or life simply got in our way and prevented us from getting there. We know where we were supposed to be and when we were supposed to be there, we just did;t arrive on time. Like these construction barriers that guide the way in Kyoto, we sometimes need something to guide us back on track.
At one time or another we have all been scatter brained or frazzled and lost track of what we were doing. Too much on our plate, too much on our mind, too much to keep track of and something slides. We’re running late and everything seems to be plotting against us getting done what needs to be done. Or life throws a curve ball and everything we were doing gets pushed aside for something more urgent.
At one time or another we have all missed the alarm clock and woken up in a panic. We had to be somewhere by a certain time and having woken up late we now bolt into recovery mode to simply get out the door. At that moment everything that is unimportant is forgotten. We are laser focuses on getting moving and getting to where we are supposed to be. I had a roommate who never panicked on these mornings. She figured if she slept late, she must have needed the rest. I never thought of it that way until she woke up late on a weekday.
Once you get on your way, you have time to take a deep breath. During that breath you can often clearly see what prevented you from being on time. Too much to do, too many things where you said yes, too much going on. Whatever it is, give yourself a break. Everyone gets behind and everyone runs late…no one is perfect.
