Flexible Circles

Our lives revolve and are made sane through process and repetition. We create habits and systems to manage the many things we do each day. We have a way we get out of bed – brush our teeth, use the restroom, shower, dress, breakfast and then to work. We drive the same way to work or school, and we sit at our desks in the same place doing familiar things. We store emails in  folders, sort files into important lists. We attend meetings and discuss ideas or to do items, eat lunch, then do it all over again in the afternoon. To head home we travel back the same way seeing everything from a different perspective, and live our evenings with familiar habits and activities surrounded by those we love.

When those habits, systems and processes get interrupted or changed we may fall into disarray. We are uncomfortable and it may seem hard to quiet down and rest. Our habits provide comfort and familiarity as well as help us feel we have accomplished something during another day. Throw in some change or more to do items and what was familiar and soothing becomes klunky and annoying. Its different which means we have to accomodate and change as well. Run out of your favorite toothpaste and the entire day may feel akward.

When we get what we want it is exciting and affirming. The clue is wanting what you have once you get it. And when the newness encroaches on your stable life, let it bring joy and excitement instead of discomfort. Let the circles of your life be flexible enough for you to grow and have fun as life brings new elements into your world.

  1. ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. It is difficult enough to write a line of text evenly, but a circle multiple times. GREAT. GREAT.

PS Envelope came. Watermarked but I call it design over time. Love it. Thank you.
