The pumpkin farms near us are full and selling like mad. It’s their season and their produce is amazing. This box of pumpkins reminded me that we can be both consistent and original at the same time. These look like the pumpkins we all come to expect this time of year, and yet each one has something special about it. The shade of color or the stem, the indentations, or the size may all contribute to making each one different from the other. At a quick glance they all look like what we expect, but upon closer inspection you can see how they are all different, how they are all original pumpkins.
Today you will most likely encounter people who at quick glance look and act like everyone else. They are what you expect. They are doing their jobs and conducting themselves as their role demands. They dress according to their dress code or uniform, and they do what is required to get their work completed. I encourage you today to look beyond the consistent and find the unique. Each of us has something to offer that no one else can provide. Yet when we interact with each other, most of the time we deal with the consistent and forget about looking for the original. Today look beyond the consistent and find the original…it’s there, you just have to work harder to see it.
