Remember and Celebrate

Somewhere we have had great success. We have won prizes or ribbons, awards or maybe even metals. We celebrate the moment and recognition and bask in the attention. Then we put it all away for safe keeping and every once in a while remind ourselves of our accomplishments. We reminisce about our hard work and think back with fondness on our moment in the sun.

Then the rainy days come, the stress, the questions and we find it hard to remember our past success. We can pull out the ribbons and awards to see it was real, but when you’re having a bad day it can be hard to remind yourself that the bad day is not an indication of your total abilities…it is simply a bad day. Somehow it is easier to remember the bad stuff than the good stuff. We play tapes in our heads that remind us of what we have done wrong, yet we forget to remember and celebrate our past victories. No one likes a braggart. No one likes the person who constantly lives in the past. No one wants to hear the story one more time about how you saved the day, the project, or the report. Sometimes it is best to remind ourselves so our current circumstances do not drag us too far into the muck and mire.

When was the last time you reviewed some of your past victories? When did you last remind yourself of your triumphs and successes? Take time today to remind yourself of something you did that you are particularly proud of and revel in that moment. Let the joy and self confidence soothe your heart and soul. Then you are ready to tackle anything you are handling from a perspective of success. Success breeds success.
