Be Intentional

Every morning we wake up to a new day, a new opportunity to make a difference. That means being intentional about what we are doing and why we are doing it. I don’t mean planning out every moment of your day; this is not about time management. What I mean by intentional is having a mindset where what you do, you do with purpose or reason. I mean thinking first and acting second, making an effort for each action to count. Thinking about why you are doing what you are doing, and investing your time and energy on worthwhile topics.

When I think of being intentional I think about removing the fluffy stuff – like gossip, or shooting the breeze, or wasting time watching bad news or worthless reality television. I think of being intentional when I want to think differently, so I have to look for different things to inspire my mind. Go to different places or experience different things to help me be more creative. Step outside of my comfort zone or thought box to see things from a different perspective. Intentional means acting as if you only have a limited amount of time on this earth and you want what you are doing today to matter. Intentional means breaking habits we have formed because they were easy and making new habits that help us become strong.

Too many times we take the easy path simply because it is easy, and no one has ever challenged us to do better. I am challenging you today to do one thing differently in order to reach your goal or to learn something new…or to think differently. One small step for intentional, one giant leap for your life!
