Macaroons and Personal Brand

In our family we use an app called LINE to communicate with our family in Japan. It translates English to Japanese and vice versa. It lets us share pictures and tell stories without having to figure out if the others will understand. This app allows us to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, and share family challanges. We used it to coordinate with everyone when we were last in Japan, and have had fun watching the children grow. That app has characters that it created and here we found those characters turned into macaroons.

It astounded me that an app could have enough use to have a bakery turn it into a dessert. They are not just a random confection, they are part of a product brand. We found an entire store dedicated to LINE. They have shirts, toys, clothes, candy, desserts, cups, luggage, pencils, pens, bookmarks and so much more. This app has an entire product line, it has its own brand. When anyone sees these characters they know exactly who they are and waht they represent.

What would you say is your brand, your personal brand? When people see your work, how well does it represent you? When you are not around, does your brand stand the test of time? Do people smile when you enter the room, or when you leave?

We each have a brand and it permeates everything we do. It shows up when we are not there, and remains long after we leave. That brand can be described with adjectives, and those adjectives are basically the same way people describe us. Whether we like it or not we are our brand. Being aware of yourself and your brand allows you to branch out with confidence and grow outside of what you even imagined. Maybe one day you too can have your own line of macaroons.
