Sometimes to get where you want to go you simply need to keep moving. People may go with you and join you in your journey, or they may go the opposite direction. No matter who chooses to travel with you, keep moving.
Some of the hardest times in life can seem like a dead end. You get stalled or stopped in your tracks and find it hard to get going again. The dead end simply feels like the end of everything. It is as if all your worked towards is gone, or has turned into more like a nightmare instead of a dream. A verse in one of my favorite songs reads:
If a man loses evything he has, has he truly lost his worth? Or is it the beginning of a new and brighter birth?
Once you stop it can seem insurmountable to try to get moving again. You have to force yourself to get out of your chair and move. On these days bathing can seem like a life goal. You just don’t have what it takes to get going again. The dead end has won and you are now completely immobile. Life as you know it is gone and you are left as a couch potato. It might seem like a good idea at the time, but stagnation and solitary confinement on your sofa will not get you where you eventually want to go.
So get up, get moving. Even if moving means you take a shower, get the mail and get back in bed. Tomorrow you can take a shower, get the mail and go to the grocery store. The goal is to keep moving, keep going, one step in front of the other. Move from bed to the sofa, move from the sofa to the mailbox, then from the mailbox to the store…and let the momentum keep you moving forward.
Not everyone you see is going exactly where they thought they would be going. They may be moving simply to keep moving. An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion. There is a time to rest, you just need to remember that eventually you will stay at rest which gets you no where. So get moving, keep moving and at least head in the direction you want to go.
