Have you ever felt like this? So close to being done and then something just doesn’t fit? You have all the pieces and they just don’t work when you put them all together. It is frustrating, disappointing, and a little humorous at the same time. If we take ourselves too seriously then when things go wrong we could easily miss the lessons.
So what is the lesson here? Never buy a house unless you know your car actually fits into the garage? Measure your new car before you take it home and find it won’t fit into the garage? After we passed this house, I thought about the moment when the owner realized the car did not fit. Disappointing, frustrating and then you are stuck. With the price of real estate in Japan, I’m sure moving was not an option. I’m also sure that the car won’t be going back to the dealership either. So how do you handle this one? I think this homeowner has a good attitude about it. They covered as much of the car as they could, then shut the garage door and went on with their day.
Sometimes in life you have to pick your battles. You have to go with the cards you have been dealt, and the cards you picked. You have to do your best with what you have and be grateful. This owner has both a home and a car. They have a safe place to live and store their belongings. Does everything work just the way it was supposed to, not really. But does that really matter in the grand scheme of things? Obviously not to this family. They have shelter and transportation, and a way to keep track of it all.
When the pieces don’t quite fit the way you want, don’t get frustrated or depressed, be grateful. Think of the many, many, many things you do have going for you and leave the disappointment to something that really matters. Everything deson’t always work jsut the way we want. Don’t sweat it. Spend your energy and effort on the next opportunity and go with what you do have. Count your blessings and don’t sweat the small stuff.
