Inspiration: A Week In Review

We have had family visiting this week…as you can see that resulted in a refrigerator full of leftovers. We had such a great week it can be hard to remember all that we did. Yet when I look at all the yummy leftovers – turkey, ham, BBQ pork, dressing, cranberry salad, potato salad, macaroni salad – I can recall it all. Sometimes the challenge when people visit is not where will they sleep, the challenge is where to put all the food.

When I was growing up sometimes my Mom wanted to clean all the leftovers out of the refrigerator, so we had “A Week in Review” for dinner. She was a wizard at combing leftovers into new things, and making the redo into a new meal. It never felt like we were eating reruns, it was fun. Today, my husband and I do not have lots of leftovers. We usually eat all that is prepared, or he nibbles later and cleans out the leftovers pretty quickly. So not many week in review nights for us.

Have you ever been at that place in life where you feel like you are getting leftovers? When the people or group or activity you are doing seems stale, old, past its prime? Maybe you have been doing the same thing over and over and over and over and keep expecting a different result. Maybe you have been doing the same job for so long that you find it hard to get excited about doing it anymore? I had someone tell me they had fifteen years experience in their current role.  And I asked them a simple question…is that fifteen different years of experience, or is that the same year over and over again for fifteen years? There’s a big difference between the two. Too many people have the same year over and over again and wonder why it feels stale.

If you feel like your life, career, marriage, health are simply put – a week in review – then you probably need to clean it out and set your sights on a new goal. Change is hard, and yet if we don’t change, won’t change, can’t change…then we are destined to live a life full of leftovers. And no matter how much of a wizard you are, no one can make leftovers seem like a new meal for very long.

Today is the day to inventory what is making you feel stale and change it. Be honest, take a hard look at things and make the resolution to change.

  2. I think what you said was very logical. However, what about this?
suppose you were to create a killer headline?

I mean, I don’t want to tell you how to run your website, however suppose you added a title that
grabbed people’s attention? I mean Inspiration: A Week In Review – Ann Art Gallery Blog is kinda vanilla.
You might look at Yahoo’s home page and watch how
they create post headlines to grab viewers interested.
You might add a video or a related picture or two to grab people interested about what
you’ve got to say. Just my opinion, it could bring your posts
    a little bit more interesting.
