Inspiration: Like Printing with a Snake Skin

Here you see my step daughter Ash working with a piece of snake skin as she learns the process of gel printing. We were in between meals and I had mentioned gel printing earlier in the week, so she asked if I could show her how it works. This was her first foray into this method of printing, and she was willing to try anything. A friend gave my husband a shed snake skin to see what he might come up with in a piece of art. As Ash was working with the colors and imprint process, she thought why not try using the snake skin…

How many times have we all wanted to try something new, but didn’t have the guts? We see it out there but something prevents us from taking the leap. Some thought in our heads tells us we can’t do it, or it won’t work for us, or I’m crazy to try again…last time was a failure. And the sad part is we listen to that nagging voice. We let it control our thoughts and actions, and nothing changes. And THEN we get frustrated because nothing changes and wonder why somebody doesn’t do something to make things change. Maybe that somebody is YOU!?!

Maybe it is time for you to do something different. Maybe it is time for you to take a leap and do something completely new and outside of your comfort zone…something strange, or new, or odd..like printing with a snake skin. Maybe today is the day you do something that you did not know how to do when you got out of bed. The question is not whether you can find that ‘thing’ to do, the REAL question is do you have the guts to do it?

Ash had the guts. In fact both she and her husband Aric jumped into the deep end and spent several hours in our studio learning how to create with gel printing. They created some pretty cool stuff, and had a lot of fun doing it. If you look below you can see the end result of her print with the snake skin. Isn’t it amazing what you can accomplish when you stop listening to the negative voices in your head and just do it…

Your challenge to day is to do something strange and different, like printing with a snake skin. You might be pleasantly surprised by what courage and gumption can create.
