Inspiration: Go for the Good Stuff

Cheese, glorious cheese! This is the cheese section of a local restaurant wholesale store. And if you can leave this area without your stomach growling, then you might want to check your pulse. As we stood and read all the labels and varieties, our mouths watered and imaginations ran wild.

Unfortunately there are those of us who love cheese, but it does not love us…the poor lactose intolerant of the edible world. My husband falls into that category of the population. He soooo enjoys eating and cooking with all varieties of cheese, yet his digestion is not a fan. So what to do? Do you eat what you know will bother your digestion? Or do you obtain and miss out on something you greatly enjoy? There are substitutions for the real thing…some are okay, some are horrible, some are rather mediocre. Usually we have found that substitutions usually fall short of the real thing; you really do get what you pay for.

When I was early in my art career I had little money to spend, so I bought inexpensive supplies. They helped me learn, but they didn’t really hold up over time. As I learned more about my chosen area of creativity, I began to save and spend more on the real thing. I used better paper, more expensive inks and high quality writing instruments. I still have most of the tool I bought years ago, they have aged well and served me well. When you create, do you spend money on quality tools…or do you buy on the cheap? Do you go with the imitation, or work with the real thing? Your work is worth the investment, so is your idea and your creativity. Just like food is better with quality cheese, your work will show the investment of quality tools…go for the good stuff and let it serve you and your ideas well.
