Yes, this is another sunflower shot…very close up. I never knew the inside of a sunflower looked this way. This example was about the size of a large beach ball…huge in my mind! You can see that the petals had already started drying up and the stalks were beginning to wither.
This flower made me think of yellow, in all it’s shades and varieties. I was struck by the brightness of the petals, the darker corners of the dry areas, and the contrast with the sun soaked leaves. Orange is mixed in there to add texture to each dried section and foreshadow that fall is on it’s way. And green joins the fun to provide variety and a base for all the other colors to stem from…literally.
I had to get really close to see all this…so close that I lost my footing and almost fell into the field. But it was worth it. We pulled the car over so I could snap this one, then got stuck in traffic trying to get back on the road. But again, it was worth it. Today I encourage you to enjoy the hassles of doing what you want to get what you want. Enjoy the process of creating, of inventing, of writing, of photographing, of digging into the simple to find the extraordinary. Enjoy the things that go wrong or the minute detail you must endure in order to reach your end goal. Nothing worthwhile comes easy…if it did, everyone would do it. Be that person who persists and brings to light the color and joy only you can share with the world…no matter what the clock or traffic or your schedule tells you…be willing to go the distance.
