Inspiration 232: Savor the Flavor

What is with our obsession over barbecue? I live in the south and there are as many ways to serve pork as there are figurines in this photo. Eveyone has a family recipe that has been handed down for generations. Some use vinegar, some us molasses…some even us apple juice. What ever it is, we LOVE to eat some barbecue…bar-be-que…bbq…bubba-q. However you spell it, it spells yum!

What I enjoy is the passion behind it all. It’s methodical yet secretive, family oriented yet smothered in rivalry, and at times this topic becomes a bit fanatical. We each have our favorite recipe – either to eat or cook, or both – and we can talk about it for hours. We compare, we try, we test, we change, we eat!

What about your work brings out this much passion? Are you excited to talk about what you are creating? Or has it grown stale and you are simply going through the motions? Are you excited to do something new? Are you working on a series that has you enthralled each time to work? Or are you stumped for soemthing new and need a kick in the fanny to get motivated? My encouragement for you today is to remember the passion in your work. Remember what got you started and waht you enjoy about the process. Remember those who have gome before you to give you what you have today…like a family barbecue recipe, savor the flavor and then make it your own.
