Each year there is an International Gingerbread Competition. This is a picture of this year’s winner. Believe it or not, this is a chess set made out of gingerbread. HOLY COW…that is utterly amazing! When I saw this display, I knew you had to see it as well. Check out the detail, the craftsmanship, and the elaborate elements contained on each of the chess pieces. Even the chess board is made out of gingerbread.
The other thing that caught my attention was the winner’s name – Ann Bailey…small world. She lives in Cary, NC. Being of the same name, it made me think about how many people might have my same name, and also be creative in unique ways. I’m sure there are lots of Ann Baileys, and it seems that others are very creative and celebrate their inventiveness by creating such excellent examples of their passion. This chess set is something I would never have thought of creating out of flour, sugar, and ginger. Isn’t it amazing what people think to create when you give them simple ingredients.
What have you recently created out of something basic? I challenge you today to design, develop, create, inventsomething different out of something basic. Your name sake from somewhere else in the world may be watching…
